Hello and Welcome
to our Online Home!
Thank you for visiting and we hope that you will find everything you’d like to know about St James Nursery and Pre-School in Southampton, and we look forward to hearing from you very soon.
Our Nursery and Pre-School is Celebrating 45 years, 1976-2021
St James Nursery and Pre-School opened in 1976 and has it’s home opposite St James Park, in Shirley, Southampton. We are a private, family-owned nursery and pre-school.
We are OPEN for the care of ALL children – we have stayed open during the “COVID 19 lockdown” and follow current government guidance.
Our Nursery welcomes children aged from 3 months to 8 years, who enjoy playing and learning in a nurturing, friendly, stimulating and secure environment, cared for by experienced, qualified staff.
We proudly hold 7 Healthy Early Years Awards, including GOLD standard in 2020, and are the first Setting in Southampton to achieve the GOLD award. We are the first Setting to achieve the new HEYA Mental Health and Well-Being Award in 2022
In 2020, we were delighted to achieve “The Curiosity Approach” Accreditation.
In the following year we started our “ECO friendly” accreditation, teaching children to look after the environment and so safeguard all of our futures!
We offer all-day and sessional, quality childcare, accepting tax-free childcare, vouchers and the government funding (30 hours, 2/3/4 year). The Nursery opens 51 weeks of the year. We also offer secure, online Learning Journeys, giving parents immediate photos, videos and observations.
Our Vision is:
“Children are at the heart of everything we do, and we strive to teach and inspire them to be happy, healthy, confident, and have a love for learning, in a beautiful, stimulating and safe environment”
Our motto is:
“Love, Learn, Smile”
