The Six Areas of Learning
In order to ensure that all Nurseries, Schools and Playgroups who look after young children offer a good grounding in education, OFSTED has determined the various early learning goals that should be achievable by most children. The inspections carried out by OFSTED pay particular attention to the way we in the Nursery aim to achieve these goals.
OFSTED has divided the goals for young children's development into six areas:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication, language and literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Creative development
- Physical development
- Knowledge and understanding of the world
